In order to have a strong Connect to facilitate corporate resources, the institute has created a Corporate Resource Division and has notified the Actualization Policy on Industrial Internship for M.Tech. students. All the students of M.Tech. programme (all five disciplines) are required to undergo a compulsory industrial internship for the entire 3rd semester. These have been placed in prominent Food Processing Industries for five months starting from August apart from those who wish pursue Research and Development.
In addition, people from academics and eminent speakers from the corporate world share their vision for application of research in industries. NIFTEM envisages to further expand this relationship with corporates and channelize the Food Processing Knowledge for mutual benefit.
Industrial Training
The curriculum for all B.Tech. programme would include two compulsory industrial trainings at the end of the fourth and sixth semester for 4-6 weeks carrying one credit each.
Arrangements for training in industries and academics (within or outside the country) have to be routed through Training & Placement Section via the faculty in-charge of training of their respective departments. A student, after being selected in an organization by Training & Placement Section cannot opt out of his training from that organization, under any circumstances. The allotment of training programmes of all the students by Training & Placement Section will conclude at a suitable and fixed deadline. No further changes will be entertained, under any circumstances.
Evaluation of Industrial Training
The performance of the student in the industrial training will be evaluated based on their submission of a certificate received from their respective organization, followed by a combined viva-voice presentation and report examination. The grades of Semi Industrial Training shall be awarded on the following basis:
(i) Write-up Report 50%
(ii) Presentation 50%
The grades in Industrial Training shall be awarded by a committee consisting of following members:
(i) Head of the Department
(ii) Industrial Training In-charge.
(iii)Two senior faculty members nominated by the Head of the Department.
