NIFTEM, Kundli was established under the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI), Government of India
in the year 2012 to provide a conducive ecosystem for education, research, industrial promotion, support and
entrepreneurship in the food processing sector. Over more than a decade, NIFTEM, Kundli has emerged as a
leading academic and research Institute in different aspects of food science and technology.
The Institute has been a harbinger in academic innovations, peer-reviewed research publications in high impact
factor (IF) journals, filing patents, obtaining research grants from external sources, developing technologies
and creating entrepreneurship in Food Processing.
The different initiatives and contributions made in the sector by the Institute during the last decade or so
earned NIFTEM a brand name in India and NIFTEM got recognized as an
Institute of National Importance (INI) in the year 2021.
Today, NIFTEM is positioned to upscale the strength of the Indian food processing sector and is committed to
working closely with the Food Processing Industry and the start-ups in order to ameliorate the existing
processing levels across different food products and generate more employment and entrepreneurial opportunities
in the food sector.
The route to these key achievements includes a targeted approach, knowledge advancement, global perspective,
development and adoption of cutting-edge technologies, technology transfer to industries and enterprises,
solution-based research, resource sharing, incubating start-ups, and outreach activities.
In the process, NIFTEM's human resource (talented faculty and staff) has been accoutered with the latest
advancements in the field (unique, novel, and updated academia, research insights, facilities, and technical
skills) to aid in creating trained and committed next-generation techno-managers and budding entrepreneurs
in food processing.
The institute commits to providing an encouraging and affable ambience to nurture the young minds (students
and scholars) of the country for innovation, creativity, and excellence by inculcating scientific acuity
and multi-dimensional learning, ethics.
